RoBot - Worker

RoBot is derived form a Greek work which means Worker. Dr. Asimov is considered the Father of Robotics. He stated three laws that a robot has to obey when it is designed and commissioned. It may not be surprising if we see a machine the same as us and doing tasks as we do in future. Some of the science fiction movies such as Terminator series, star wars, cyborg, are examples for the robotic passion.
A robot performs tasks hat are impossible by an ordinary human being. A robot may resemble an ordinary human being or an arm tat performs a specified task, a four wheeled vehicle, information teller and so on.
In simple words, I describe robot as a sincere worker for a human being. A robot does not know the meaning for tiredness and boredom. A task alloted to it will be completed at any cost and also with 100% efficiency and accuracy.
Automation plays a major role in industrial development. Presently, many foreign countries employ robotics in automation. This would fetch not only accurate and reliable production but also the danger for a person to work in a harzardous area is reduced. Thus we can save many lives of both skilled and unskilled workers.
In addition to saving many lives, robotics can be used to fight boredom and offer a change of life to an individual. A continuously repeating loop can be done bby a robot instead a human being.
Coming to security, image recognition, voice recognition are used nowadays for better protection of confidential matters from intruders. There is also a need for robotics in military applications such a automatic gun firing, anti aircraft gun through image recognition etc.,.
In domestic lives robots can be employed for house keeping, attending phones, information gathering and telling, etc.,.
All these needs put together and some more, lead to a new technology Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Thus we need to adopt this technology for a better standard of living of the people.
We have a need to adopt this technology and it is out responsibility to develop robotics in India. People need to be aware of the consequences of this new technology if handed in a wrong direction . As I mentioned earlier every has its own pros and cons. But today we find robotics s being researched and developed only in a couple of companies or so namely USA, Japan may be Germany too. Japan is playing a leading role. We mush not allow a technology to accumulate at only one side of the globe. If and only if, there is global development in a particular technology, there would be peace and harmony. How is this ? Let me explain.
So far in the history of science many fictions came to reality. If Newton discovered Gravity then Wright bros invented plane that is against gravity. This dream came true. Also the concept of electricity discovered by Sir Thomas Alva Edison is not a fiction., it is real .If all fictions are becoming real, I have a question why don't the robot wars become true or the The Terminator become true. If so happens, the technology that is lead by Japan or US may excel and the remaining countries would go to hell. I m not actually blaming, if this technology were to grow that much powerful like The Terminator then, Japan and US may try to invade one country and the other and conquer them very easily. While the rest of the countries still fight against them only with man power and not machine power. This is a heavy loss. Thus peace is collapsed, there is no harmony. Then the UN can be taken off isn't it ?
So the people of India should be aware not only on the benefits they receive from this technology but also the aftermath if robotics were to be be handled by wrong hands.
Robotics in India is still conceptual. India is confined to that technology which provides her dividends. But she is not worked about the technologies that are growing around her. I refer she as the people of India, especially the students of India. unless the students of India are motivated to undertake robotics as career option this new technology may not find a peak place in India. Students must concentrate more on R and D rather that working for money. Money is money always, it is survival alone. But when we undertake a better R and D session, we excel.
I don't tell u that robotics is not all in India. It is there, but we can count them on our fingers. Some organizations those work on robotics are,
1) center for artificial intelligence and research (CAIR)
-DRDO sub division
2) IIIT - Hyderabad
3) IISc - Bangalore offers PhD in Robotics
4) IIT- Kanpur works extensively on robotics.
5) Many more IITs work on robotics.
The details are up to my knowledge only and I would update my knowledge regarding this new technology and inform u timely.
You may see that robotics is confined only to the top-sect intelligence those who are at the IITs. Because they may have aids to perform their projects. But a local institution like the one I study cannot afford it because robotics is a bit costly affair. So, where do we go for aid ? I have a plan to the government to distribute the aid evenly to all institutions in India considering their interest on the present day technologies.
But it may take years for my plea to reach the Government of India. So my sincere request to Robo passionists is to get a seat in the IITs and work with top students and up date ur knowledge regarding robotics. Only this would propell India to reach success on robotics to some extent.
When computer was new to India, many sections of people, particularly the Communists people agitated to its advent. They had a view that jobs done by ten people is done by the computer itself and therefore India would face unemployment. Inspite of those agitations, India has become one of the ruling powers in Software Technology.
Same is the case here, the advent of robotics may cause numerous agitations, But once when this technology is made known to a wide variety of people, they would appreciate the technology rather ending up cursing.
Robotics can be employed in dangerous areas such as mines, toxic gases oriented places, building construction etc.,. This would reduce the risk of loosing many lives in case any accident occurs.
When we try to learn a new technology, we are actually updating our present technology and we are not shifting from one technology to the other. If this were present in the minds of the people, then robotics would soon win the hearts of thousands.
I am sure robotics, automation and artificial intelligence is going to have a bright future and they may rule the future too. In India if robotics is taken seriously, at least from now, we would succeed in this technology. Career in robotics is a bit costly affair. So when it is undertaken with a bit encouragement, we would have sure success in our careers.

Conserve environment

1. Clean or replace air filters on your air conditioning unit at least once a month.
2. If you have central air conditioning, do not close vents in unused rooms.
3. Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120.
4. Wrap your water heater in an insulated blanket.
5. Turn down or shut off your water heater when you will be away for extended periods.
6. Turn off unneeded lights even when leaving a room for a short time.
7. Set your refrigerator temperature at 36 to 38 and your freezer at 0 to 5 .
8. When using an oven, minimize door opening while it is in use; it reduces oven temperature by 25 to 30 every time you open the door.
9. Clean the lint filter in your dryer after every load so that it uses less energy.
10. Unplug seldom used appliances.
11. Use a microwave when- ever you can instead of a conventional oven or stove.
12. Wash clothes with warm or cold water instead of hot.
13. Reverse your indoor ceiling fans for summer and winter operations as recommended.
14. Turn off lights, computers and other appliances when not in use.
15. Purchase appliances and office equipment with the Energy Star Label; old refridgerators, for example, use up to 50 more electricity than newer models.
16. Only use electric appliances when you need them.
17. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs to save money and energy.
18. Keep your thermostat at 68 in winter and 78 in summer.
19. Keep your thermostat higher in summer and lower in winter when you are away
20. Insulate your home as best as you can.
21. Install weather stripping around all doors and windows.
22. Shut off electrical equipment in the evening when you leave work.
23. Plant trees to shade your home.
24. Shade outside air conditioning units by trees or other means.
25. Replace old windows with energy efficient ones.
26. Use cold water instead of warm or hot water when possible.
27. Connect your outdoor lights to a timer.

Let us follow.. We will preserve Green in the Earth.. even a small change will make a big and tremendous change in the environment.
